It's been awhile.

It's been a few since my last post and where do I start?  Well our Doublecross team has grown and I personal couldn't be happier.  On another note I have quit running my class bike and focused slowly on my cruiser, currently I sit 4th in State points and 10 in the district.  My goals for this year on cruiser are coming along nicely!! Looking forward to the second half of the year for our team and the success they will have. #Livelifeinorange

2015 Here I come!!!

I am looking forward to a new year and great opportunities.  Recently I was given the privilege of managing a newly created co-factory race team, Doublecross Bikes California. We have some great riders and a cool co-manger helps run the team with me.  We are looking forward to a great first season and we have added some new riders and soon I will post a new team photo.  See you in the gate!!

At the end of the day this is my sanctuary.

Gold Cup 2014 
Well after a long year and many races it finally came down to the Gold Cup finals at Silver Dollar BMX in Chico California.  It was great to be around so many good BMX people and friends and to finish off with a #2 for the year felt awesome.  Looking forward to 2015 Team Doublecross California.

Fruition

Well here I am at the end of the BMX year and with State finals complete I have reached the goal I had set out for myself in the beginning and I actually finished better than expected, State #3.  I never even imagined I would go this far and love every minute of it and with this year coming to an end and only one more event left (Gold Cup), being tied for 2nd and 1 point out of first, I look forward to getting a great result.  Moving forward into the new year I plan on moving up to intermediate shortly and beginning a new quest, along those lines I am also going to pick up a MTB and get back up into the hills of which I loved so much back in So Cal. I want to thank everyone who has been out there cheering me along and following my photography as well. Thanks to Doublecross Bikes for my sick whips.

Final week before State Championships 2014

After a long year of racing it has finally come down to the last week before the State Championship race held at Oak Creek BMX the weekend of 9/19.  After starting back in BMX in January 2014, it has been an interesting ride, so many ups and downs as well as much drama (as expected, haters going to hate).  But as we roll into this final week all the hard work and dedication of many riders come to fruition for this state race.  I am looking forward to having a good time and riding with many of the great people I have had the pleasure of meeting throughout this year.

Now on a bigger scale the Grand Nationals will be here in November, that will be my goal next year.

BlackJack Western Division National Championships

As the weekend come to a close I feel that my first Nationals experience was with mixed emotions of success and some disappointment.  My first day was filled with excitement and nervousness and I was able to make my first Main Event in a BMX National event and it was a goal I had set for myself back in January when I started riding again.  

Then came Sunday and with one day under my belt I had high hopes. As I went into round 2 I had my sites on coming out on top but as I entered turn 2 and shot down low for the swoop on another rider, I came out of the corner and I believe my tire washed out do to some bumps and me increasing my tire pressure prior to the race (should have kept it at my normal PSI), I went down hard and banged myself up pretty good.  We live and learn from our small mistakes and move forward as the cliche goes.  In the end I had a great experience and hung out with great people.

Next up on the agenda is the State Race at Oak Creek BMX, this is the race I have been waiting for.  It is a home track for me and all my BMX friends and family will be there ( not that it is any pressure..LOL) and it will be a great event.  Thanks again to all those who came to see if I was alright after my crash I truly appreciate it.  -VPW
